Argentine-born Barbeau (real name: Adrian Sosa) planted his roots in Seattle, when he was 9, and began his journey as a man of sound. As someone who’s worked as a DJ, producer, and promoter and booking agent, Barbeau knows all aspects of the music industry. As a booking agent and promoter for the influential, now-defunct club Aro.space, he brought artists such as Ryuichi Sakamoto, Air, Underworld, Massive Attack, Deee-Lite to the Pacific Northwest. He decided to come out from behind the scenes and started DJing and producing records himself. Barbeau's shared turntables with some of the biggest names in the business Doc Martin, Les Rhythmes Digitales, Donald Glaude at renown clubs like Avalon/LA and Crobar/NYC; he’s twiddled knobs in the late electronic house project Tripoli (on Sweetmother Records), and is the man behind Hollywood act Dirty Sanchez’s sound. “DJ’ing and writing music sits very naturally for me and it’s in my bloodline,” says Barbeau.

In 2001, Barbeau relocated to Los Angeles, and DJed and produced a weekly party at Fubar hosted by Jackie Beat and Alexis Arquette. They would be first incarnation for what was soon to become Dirty Sanchez, then called Leo. Alexis Arquette couldn’t continue and famed New York nightlife figure Mario Diaz stepped in to replace her, and the rest is History. Dirty Sanchez has three Releases, on Hypnotic Records, many videos, and have sold out venues on both coasts.

“Dirty Sanchez taught me how to really dance alone, the beat goes on and on and on! Wow! Cool and Fantastic!”
Parker Posey
“Dirty Sanchez has the hottest, dirtiest, tastiest sound around!”
Margaret Cho

Barbeau continued with his production career, doing remix work for the likes of Thrill Kill Kult, Jody Watley, Luxxury, and Jeffree Star. He’s also done custom mixes for top fashion designers and runway shows such as Jennifer Nicholson, Rojas, and Tatyana Peters. Barbeau has also delved into the world of custom sound design, doing projects for Outfest and audio mixes for film.

“Creating sound textures and doing sound design is my form of meditation and zen”
